5 Spooky suggestions for a killer Halloween party

With Halloween almost upon us and the party season quickly ascending thereafter, we've put together our top tips on throwing a killer Halloweenparty to start the cemebration season.

Halloween Costumes

Funky Fancy-dress

Say goodbye to the days where adults could only dress up in a handful of safe and predictable outfits for Halloween; the witch, a vampire, a ghost etc.

Have fun with your theme this year by asking your guests to dress up as a character from a horror movie chosen by yourself or them, ask for a hellish take on a childhood classic or even hold a masquerade soiree. It's your party and you can do what you want to!

Halloween Decoration

Venue and Decorations

You don't have to stick to the traditional colours of orange and black for your party, throw some Mexican culture in to the mix and use 'Day of the dead' themed decorations for a spooktacular, colourful and vibrant setting. Candles can also add great ambience, just becareful to place them safely and away from anything that could catch fire.

Also, for bonus points with your guests, hand out a party bag as they leave with a few treats inside. After not going trick or treating for a few years, they'll love it!

Halloween Drinks

Put down the Pumpkin Spice and pick up the Whiskey.

A Halloween party is the perfect place to showcase an array of themed cocktails specifically for the occasion. Make a punch bowl out of a witch's cauldron and fill it with Whiskey and Sweet Vermouth and voila, you have created a blood red, delicious cocktail that will keep your guests coming back for more and more.

Don't make it too strong though, your insurance policy is unlikely to cover you if you damage someone else's property when drunk. Other potential favourites include a Creey Olde Fashioned and Wicked Red Punch. If you really want to push the boat out, order a mixologist to cater your party and leave the drinks to them.

Halloween Food

Keep the Halloween theme running through your food too. As nice as sandwiches and sausage rolls are, let's try something different. Take a look at a sample menu from a caterer below:

'Bucket of Bones' - sticky ribs served in a metal bucket to add to the effect, Chocolate cake with a spider's web ganache, Meatball Mummies - a simple one! Meatballs cooked and wrapped in spaghetti to create a Mummy effect.

Many caterers offer specialist themed menus so talk to them directly to find out what other tricks or treats they can offer you.

Halloween Music

The Music

No party is complete without a rockin' playlist to fit the occasion. Try a mix of scary film sound effects such as creaky floorboards, blood curdling screams and other ghoulish noises along with some Halloween classics you guests can dance to.

Some favourites include Michael Jackon's Thriller, Bobby Pickett's Monster Mash, Screamin' Jay Hawkins' - I Put A Spell On You and Ray Parker Jr's - Ghostbusters.

Most importantly before the big night kicks off, order your Party Insurance which can protect your wallet and your peace of mind in the event the unexpected happens. With different ranges of cover offering up to 20,000 protection from supplier cancellation and more, it's a no brainer!
